Winter is slowly creeping up on us here in sunny Perth (where we never really get a proper winter). While it may seem like the world is ending with this cold seasonal change, we here at HeadHunters are always excited for a season change. Winter is such a fun time to play around with the cut and colour of your hair. Not only that, but the added bonus of hair accessories (hello, hats). Looking for some inspiration? We have compiled a list of our favourite 2016 winter hair trends, helping us look forward to winter.
1. The Lob
By far one of the major hair trends we are currently crushing on as we head into the winter months. It’s a super versatile look that make be worn messy or slickly styled. This look is very low maintenance too, so its perfect for those who are time poor. A sneaky trick for those who have long hair and don’t want to commit too the chop… come in and get some layers cut into your long hair for a shorter appearance without totally losing the length.
2. Messy Waves
This is perfect for those winter rainy days. Messy wave are an all year favourite, but especially in winter when the rain can cause havoc on straight hair. We particularly love this look on mid length locks in a variety of colours. We recommend achieving this look by sectioning the hair into pieces and lightly heat styling into position. Finish off with the ‘Hair Resort’ by Kevin Murphy to achieve a more textured look.
3. Tonal Blondes
Blondes of all colours are majorly in this winter. We love creamy blondes this winter to give a clean, fresh look. However, if creamy blonde isn’t your thing try for a warmer blonde, think sunny like Gigi Hadid. This colour is also low maintenance and retains shine keeping it looking healthy and super luscious.
4. Chocolate Locks
Brunette has a serious moment during the winter months. We see a lot of regular clients come in this time of year to go darker for winter to reflect the changing season. This winter, expect to see warm and cool chocolate brown shades of hair. Think when Gigi went brown for cooler colours and Miranda Kerr for those warmer tones. Finally, the best part about these colours? The ease of changing between the warmer and cooler shades just makes it impossible not to try both during winter for a little mid season change.
Winter equals hats, beanies, scarfs and warming headbands. It’s an absolute playground of ideas and all of the options are pretty great on extra windy days. Firstly hats, they look great with messy waves or even some cute braids, instant cool factor for a weekend style. Beanies? Well when it’s extra cold outside we all like to loose braid our hair into two parts and pop something cosy on top. Looks effortless and keeps you warm.
